Dear Stakeholders,
Today, more than ever, we need to move from a world of energy scarcity to a world of energy surplus. We have the opportunity to help meet this need by offering our shareholders a truly sustainable business and with our world-class natural energy resources, leading capital, operating efficiency, and high standards for environmental practices. Every member of the YEO team takes seriously the responsibility and opportunity to improve access to basic human needs and reduce our environmental impact for people in Türkiye and around the world.
As the possibility of a war anywhere in the world and unexpected crises have brought energy security to the forefront, issues related to climate change and energy transition have become more prominent on the agenda. Add to this the Green Deal and the rise in the number of electric vehicles, and you can see how energy and the energy transition are priorities. To support human progress and meet consumer needs with the lowest possible carbon and environmental footprint, we must ensure that the market has sufficient energy resources.
As YEO, we prove that energy can be both affordable and secure, and emit lower carbon. It’s our goal to reach net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2035.
Our sustainability foundations are based on the principles of providing energy to sustain economic progress and prosperity, minimizing emissions from operations, investing in low-carbon solutions with adjacent technologies, and maintaining transparent disclosures with measurable progress.
Our energy future will be built on four pillars: Low-cost green energy that harnesses abundant wind, solar, and water resources; compaction technology such as pumped hydro, storage batteries, and gas generation; new transmission and modernized distribution networks to connect these new and diverse sources of low-cost generation to towns and cities, and power systems that can at times run entirely on green energy. It is inevitable that stored energy will be the world’s greatest need in the future.
As YEO, since our establishment we have built ourselves according to this transition based on the 3D formula (Digitalization, Decentralization, Decarbonization) and we believe that we will increase our sectoral impact on these areas day by day.
That’s why Reap Battery and green hydrogen are exciting and very important. We want to maximize the flow of green energy by focusing on storage and green hydrogen. This is not just about the environmental benefits deriving from the lack of need for running on fossil fuels. There are also significant economic benefits. Working with renewable energy protects the input cost of energy production from the international price shocks that affect gas, oil products, and coal. We can say, in summary, that wind and solar energy are environmentally friendly and reliable options for the next generation of production.
None of these achievements would be possible without our greatest asset – our people. The entire YEO team is energized by being part of a global energy solution.
